We often hear, let your children try new skills for better cognitive health, but this rule applies to everyone. Instead of playing games, or scrolling on social media for nothing, why not acquire a skill that benefits you in the long run and heals your mind and body adding sentimental value as well?

Many of us are afraid of going into detail and mathematical formulation to develop perfumes, but you can actually adopt basic strategies and become a trendsetter— who wants to stand one in a Million!

Gather your Supplies to Make your Personalized Perfume

The first step before you land in the  imaginative world of fragrance is to pick up your luxurious notes and gather all the supplies that are helpful in the process of creation, You’ll need:

  • Atomizer Bottle

Perfume bottles are easily available in stores or you can refill your empty bottle with a new aroma and label.

  • Fragrance oil

Try to figure out three variants of ingredients from different fragrance families so that your notes are mixed well.

Always choose soft citrusy top notes that must be refreshing, middle notes from floral, fruity to spicy, or herbal ranges, while base notes must be stronger with spicy, woody, or smoky tones that must be undertones by vanilla, ambergris, resins, or coffee type flavors.

After sorting out nutrients, extract the essential fragrance oil that must be pure, clean, and natural.

  • Ethanol: Unscented One

This alcohol is required for making a solution containing fragrance extract. Avoid Rubbing or shaking alcohol bottles because it can be dangerous. Another alternative can be vodka if you like jumping into the strongest fragrances.

  • Distilled Water

To dilute the perfumes we may need water ensuring consistencies are not disturbed.

  • Fixatives to Stabilize

Yes!  You need to trust them as they add stability and increase shelf life to your perfume. There is a rich range of them in natural and synthetic forms like resins, gums, musk Ketone, vetiverol, etc.

Pipettes or Droppers, Measuring Cup with milliliter (ml) markings, and Funnel.

Roll On Perfume Making Process:

Step 1: Extract fragrance oil from the ingredients you want to put on. This may include as many as you want but don’t lose on creating notes with lighter top notes and deep base notes. The ultimate results will be charming if you pick up the right aromatic profile. Middle notes must be the one that connects to your roots and soul, mesmerizing and dancing on your nerves. Extracting oil needs more precision and practice so you can grab it from online stores or the market as well.

Fragrance oils are added as per the type of perfume you are making like;

  • Eau de perfume has 15-20% of fragrance oil
  • Eau de Toilette has 5-15% of fragrance oil
  • Colognes has 90-95% alcohol solvent
  • Perfume oils have a maximum of 20-30% of it

Step 2: Mixing and blending fragrance oil with alcohol to compose your desired volume of perfume is the second crucial step that demands attention.

According to this you; ‘ll be adding:

  • Eau de perfume has 85-80 % of alcohol
  • Eau de Toilette has 85-90%  alcohol
  • Colognes has 2-4% of it
  • Perfume oils have a minimum ratio of 70-80% alcohol

If you are not familiar with percentages 1 mL of fragrance oil means 20 Drops, you can multiply it by total volume, like in 5 mL:

20 X  5= 100 drops of essential oil

Now divide these drops into adding 20-30% top notes, extract for middle notes 40-60%, and Base notes of 10-30%.

According to this breakdown fragrance oil in 5 mL will be like this:

  • Fragrance oil on Top note 20-30 drops.
  • Fragrance oil on the Middle note 30-50 drops
  • Fragrance oil on the Base note 20-30 drops

Step 3: Mixing & Blending

Carefully add the volumes of fragrance oil and alcohol and gently mix them. Don’t swirl hard as it can spill over. Adding both with the help of a dropper confirms the accurate addition of all the components.

Step 4: Wait to Evolve

Afterward, allow it to settle at a moderate temperature for at least 2-4 weeks. The ultimate results will be the turning point of this fun-playing journey.

Step 5: Test Before Use

After waiting, now is the time to check for the intensity of notes but use test stripes. Adding water to dilute could be the case if the fragrance is too strong while in case of light intensities add base notes that improve the scents.

Step 6: Adding Fixatives

You should add preservatives to enhance the aromatic profile and its viscosity. This addition is so graceful that it increases the alluring time of your fragrance.
